"If i got gramps from the 1950s in his suit and tie.." (suits from the 1950's are out of style, in today's standards. FYI.) He is wearing a suit and tie. That is fashion. You could think of it as stylish if you'd like. Some, however, may not think that's stylish to them. Style is subjective and there is not a single definition for what style has to be. Have you ever heard the phrase 'styles of clothing'? It describes the fashion choices that people make. If you want to say that you do not like the style of this mod, say that. However, your post is invalid otherwise:
"Like the idea of wearing a suit and making sure the colors are flowing up and down creating an illusion of height or the idea of the rules of thirds" Suits are traditionally black and white, but you may also see shades of black under a black jacket in GQ magazine. My car is black: with an aluminum hood polished resting on the black body, it would "create the illusion of height or the idea of the rules of thirds..." just as well as a black suit with a light gray shirt under. "Putting a different contrasting solid color on the hood is definetly a fashion statement of today. " It's not just a fashion statement, and aluminum is a surface, an element, and it is not a color (but one could add a hue/color to it.) Carbon fiber is also a surface but can have color added to it, but it traditionally does not have a hue/color. You can find carbon fiber hoods on many racecars today, which have style, although widely referred to as being functional only.
I could understand if i wanted to paint my hood yellow, that's a different story altogether, but is still not a case of contrasting colors. Black, is not a color. Don't believe me? mix all the colors on the color wheel on a palette. You will get what is called an earth tone. To get black, no hue must be available. Colors, have hue. "But like bell-bottom jeans and tie-dye shirts it won't last the test of time."
You'd be surprised if you went back into the history of the suit to see how many times the gentlemans suit has changed over the years, they actually don't stand the test of time well at all. but you did mention: "These ideas are permanent and will stay" sure. That's one style. There's a whole other world out there, and one style is not better than the other. It's subjective. THAT is permanent. If you're trying to say you don't like it, just say that next time :) thank you for your opinion!
